The Marine Licensing Timeline was a suite of UI improvements to the Marine Case Management System (MCMS) produced for the Marine Management Organisation (MMO). The Marine Licensing Timeline was introduced to give licence applicants an overview of their case progress. User needs indicated that applicants wanted to see how far their case had progressed, how their budget was allocated at each stage and if any actions were required.
Our response was to introduce timeline visualisation in the main 'Workbasket' view of the MCMS platform. Users could then view a more detailed dashboard for each individual application on the next screen, including CTA's, next steps and progress against budget.
These new dashboard elements needed to be flexible to accurately reflect complex cases where the original scope and estimated budget need to be recalculated.
Crucially, we also created new guidance on gov.uk to accompany the MCMS timeline, providing both existing and prospective applicants access to clear and consistent information.
